Back in 1884 in Osijek, the very first Croatian tram embarked on its maiden journey. At the very early stages of life of the first Croatian tram, it was horse-drawn and then appropriately named the horse-drawn railway. As of the year 1926, the Osijek tram has run electrically. In the ‘’tramway garage’’ of the Osijek tram, the old (now very much retired) tram number 8 from 1928 can be found.
Jump on the tram at one of its starting points and get to know the town in a quirky, different and slightly more extensive way. Riding along with the Osijek locals, and with the help of the guide, you will have the opportunity to see parts of the city that are otherwise not included in the standard tour. At the beginning of Osijek sightseeing tram tour, you will see the beloved Kandit chocolate factory in Osijek, along with the most eccentric lady of Osijek – Baroness Pauline Hermann Wessely monument – and the main square in Upper Town just before the switch to another tram. Before catching another tram, we shall visit the gorgeous Osijek Co cathedral followed by a short walk through the main square to the Drava River. Upon returning to the main square, you will catch a tram that will drive you by the elegant secession houses, the Osijek parks, Fortress all the way down to the tram station in front of the soap factory “Saponia” and the fresh food market in Down Town Osijek.
