Take this must-do birdwatching tour in Kopački rit nature park for true bird lovers, birdwatchers and ornithologists and explore the amazing world of the birds in Baranja – floodplain of two great rivers, the Danube and the Drava river
Kopački rit nature park is home to over 290 different species of bird.
Have you tried birdwatching or would you just like to get to know the avian inhabitants of Kopački rit a bit better? Either way, you’ve come to the right place. The park provides homes to hundreds of species of birds, with almost eighty percent of the total ornamentation of Croatia in its entirety living there. Kopacki rit is the most watery wetland in Europe, so it’s biodiversity is exceptionally large. River waters and land in the park area provide protection for a great many bird species and around 140 species of birds are noted to be nesting in the park each year. If you didn’t know already – Kopacki rit is the largest nesting area for White-tailed eagles in this part of Europe.
During just one visit alone it is possible to see up to 70% of Kopacki rit’s bird species, which means that between 35 and 63 different bird species can be easily observed every day. In the wet season, it will be possible to organise a visit and ride a boat within the Special Zoological Reserve, while in the dry season a visit to the old forests in the main area can be arranged.
